A new performance and commission by Emptyset was the fifth residency in DRAF Studio, a platform that operated between 2015 and 2017 and which brought together and hosted in residence artists, choreographers, musicians, writers and peer organisations to discuss and develop live work and installation. The performance was the culmination of a year-long period of research, design and composition by the artists in DRAF’s Camden building.

The performance was centred on two large-scale instruments realised in the space and developed from acoustic surveys of the DRAF building. The work incorporated constructed architectural elements and industrially manufactured materials, and used compositional aspects of micro-tonality, percussion and voice.
